The Grand Mufti of the Ahl al-Hādīth in Kashmir, Sheikh Yaqoob Baba Al Madani (حفظ الله ورعاه) is the senior and most influential Muslim religious and legal authority among the Athariis of Kashmir. The holder of the position is appointed by the Shura of Salafis in Kashmir. The Grand Mufti Yakoob Al Madani (دام ظله) comes from one of the Elite religious Families of Srinagar’s Old City. He received his Iftah from the Holy city of Madina Munawirrah.
